SlipBox - Powerful Note Organization Application

SlipBox 0.8 is an excellent free application for OS X, that is like a loose collection of “electronic idea slips” stuffed into a box. Each time you have an idea that seems worth remembering, just scribble down a note on an “electronic idea slip” and put it in the box. When the time comes that you need your ideas, the functionality of the application helps you to quickly find relevant slips, as well as the relationship and links between all the different individual slips.

So the concept of SlipBox is extremely simple. Write down an idea and add some keywords describing the content of the slip. Put it in the slip box and forget it. When you are ready to retrieve your notes, the application allows you to retrieve information in two ways:

Associative Searches - By browsing through the box in an associative search method, it helps you find new connections between the ideas you collected. The keywords you specified will make the connections for you automatically, and the application makes it easy to go from one idea to the next.

Associative searches are like following hyperlinks on the web - except that these links are not created manually. The connections between the slips and between the keywords are called scents, corresponding to the idea of the information scents. SlipBox requires no hierarchical structure - it is self-organizing - the keywords automatically structure the box. You can always change the keywords you have assigned to each note at any time and the application will re-structure the box automatically.

Raw Searches - When you need to retrieve a specific piece of information contained in the box, the keywords as well as the applications other search tools make the search very easy.
