DockStar is an add-on for Mail that adds up to 5 new-mail indicators to the dock icon. This lets you keep track of email as it arrives in various accounts and local mailboxes. In addition, you can customize shapes, size and colors to the Mail dock icon to fit you needs. To change the shape of each badge, simply click on the badge’s number on the example icon. The shape will then alternate between the four available badge shapes: Circle, Square, Star, and Heart. To resize it, simply drag it from the lower-right corner (your cursor will change). And last but most important, to change the color of the badge, rotate the small knob to the right of each menu. This is what really makes the badges stand out from each other on the Mail icon in the Dock. After testing this for 4 days with 5 pretty busy email accounts, I can not imagine not having this running. Why isn’t this a part of Mail, Steve?
Dockstar is shareware and will run for 7 days, after that it will cost you $8.

Brilliant! My wife and share the computer. We have multiple accounts, but we have all our email accounts loaded in both so we don’t have to switch users just to check our email. Now we know exactly who has email and how much at a glance.
